Am I Orthorexic?

What is orthorexia? Identified in 1997 by Colorado physician Steven Bratman, MD, orthorexia is Latin for “correct eating.” Here, too, the focus isn’t on losing weight. Instead, sufferers increasingly restrict their diets to foods they consider pure, natural and healthful. Some researchers say that orthorexia may combine a touch of obsessive compulsive disorder with anxiety and warn that severely limited “healthy” diets may be a stepping stone to anorexia nervosa, the most severe - and potentially life-threatening - eating disorder.

I eat to live. Not I live to eat. Eating for me is a necessity. It's not a luxury. So I just eat when I need to. If I am not hungry, I don't eat. Why should I? It will just add calories and weight to my body. I might not be able to maintain my ideal weight until I age.

I love eating foods that are ONLY right and proper to me. Fruits and vegetables are the main courses of my diet. If I don't eat vegetables, I feel so weak. I need to eat vegetables every day in order to be strong and be able to finish all my tasks in a day. Fruits are my deserts and my carbohydrates as well. I can finish eating one kilo of bananas in one meal. That's how voracious I am when it comes to fruits.

But I don't eat all kinds of fruits. I am too picky. I'm afraid that my atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis might attack. If that happens, I will be the one in trouble, not any members of my family, not any of my friends, but myself alone. So I need to be choosy.

I just want to know if my attitude brings me closer to being orthorexic. If someone reads this who knows something about orthorexia, please leave a message or comment.

Thank you for your time. GOD BLESS!

A WONDERFUL NIGHT WITH MY CLOSE FRIENDS..............

I enjoyed my April 21st, 2011 night with my close friends here, Dr. Julie Valencia, a professor and a Doctor of Education; and a retired policewoman and officer, Precy Aguilar. After we finished our business talk, we started our singing spree. Well, life is really wonderful with my close friends around me. Close friends who won't discern me the way I really am and I have become. I can act naturally in front of them. I can say whatever I want to say without telling me that I'm going out of my mind. I can be with them soooooooooooooooo happily. I can feel the PRESENCE OF MY GOD WHEN I AM WITH MY CLOSE FRIENDS.....I LOVE THEM...I LOVE MY WHOLE FAMILY...BUT I LOVE MY GOD ABOVE ALL...Thank you soooooooooooooooooooo much GOD for giving me people around me who will accept the way I really am...though YOU have already taken away my brother, Bern, still YOU have been keeping people beside me, people who'll become my loving friends....THANK YOU, GOD for a wonderful opportunity.

Pretty Jean: The Person on Facebook

It's been a year and six days since I created this page, the Pretty Jean: The Person on facebook. It was December 10th, 2010 when I created this to commemorate my brother Bernard. It was August 11th, 2010 when he died. To ease the pain I was feeling inside, I created this page.
 http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/pages/Pretty-Jean-The-Person/173267462697511

Since that day, I earned a lot of friends. I also gained their sympathy. Whenever I posted something on thsi page, my friends never missed to hit the ''like'' button of my post.

Lately, I heard rumors about facebook's gonna shut down. Tonight, as early as 7:30, I was trying to see my page on facebook so I could record my online classes texts on Skype, but the database didn't allow me to.

I'm afraid to lose everything that I wrote on that page. So here I am making this blog to commemorate, and if possible. save all my literature especially my poetry on this page...

You may check them out to know me more.

I'M A TRANSFORMER!

August 11th, 2011
TRANSFORMER

The death of my brother Bern is today!
It is also my birthday!
Because I'M A TRANSFORMER!

Today is the death of my brother Bern.
But I needed to be transformed.
Tears in my eyes are surely deformed.
But I've just told pains goodbyes! I need to be reformed!

Today is the death of my brother Bern.
But I needed to be transformed.
I should no longer be sentimental, neither emotional!
I need not to be temperamental, but Spiritual!

Today is the time to have a complete change.
For I no longer live for myself, I should not be strange!
For I no longer breathe for my sake, I should not derange!
To live and to breathe with GOD should be my exchange!

Today, I must re-state my conviction.
That I should live for GOD alone.
That I must breathe to serve GOD, not my own.
To do HIS will from dawn to dawn!

GOD BLESS ME! AMEN!

JANUARY 1ST, 2011: LIFE IN HELL

I love reading literature: short stories, novels, poems, essays, articles, and anything that can be read and can be the source of knowledge and wisdom. When I was a child, I read a lot of comic books. Today, I read comic strips on newspapers and magazines. I even use comic strips in teaching arts and  creativity to kids. I remember when I was in college, I started my comic strips compilation. Now that I have my own training centre, I always benefit from those collections.

One of the comic strips that I have read is "Life In Hell" by Matt Groening who used rabbits and gay lovers to explore varieties of topics such as love, relationships, sex, work, and death. In this cartoon, Binky's life was dread and bitter. He always ended up with a therapist.

I thought I would just see this kind of life on a comic book, or in any tales. But I am wrong. Today, January 1st, 2011, I witnessed someone's life in hell. It's the first day of the year, and it's a belief that we have to start our year right to make our whole year right.

So I visited a friend of mine to greet her a happy new year. While I was in her house, an old lady arrived. This old lady had a mission with the hubby of my friend who was playing farmville on facebook that time. My friend asked her hubby to entertain the old woman, but the hubby started yelling at my friend and the old woman as well. I saw Binky in the personality of my friend's hubby. He's kinda abnormal, and depressed. To think that it's the first day of the month of January, and to think that it's new year, to see such depressed person yelling at another depressed person really put me in a situation like I was in hell. He shouted aloud so bitterly. The whole house was filled with the voice of the man who is 5 feet and 10 inches tall, and the women he was yelling at are only 4 feet and 11 inches tall. I also saw that the man who's very tall as far as my height is concerned seemed like gay. He talked too much than my friend. He screamed at the top of his lungs like  gay. So I remembered again Akbar & Jeff in "Life In Hell". And I wished that the hubby of my friend would turn into a cartoon character so his voice wouldn't be as loud as thunders.

His voice was resounding. I felt that I lost my eardrums. My hubby's friend never stopped roaring. So my friend lost her temper. She also started shrieking. They were never bothered that people were around them, and that we were just visiting them. So the old woman and I were in the middle of war in Iraq and Pakistan. Until I heard the man threatening his wife. He said if his wife won't stop yelping out loud something bad might happen to her today as a gift for the start of the new year. The man, who happens to be a policeman, got his gun, and pointed it to the wife. The old woman and I started screaming out loud after which I heard gunshots. I saw my friend bathing in her own blood.

This is the gift of hatred, and insanity: death. My friend died on the spot as the whole world celebrated the first day of 2011. This is a day in hell for me, but my friend's life had been in hell as what she recounted to me.

I wish that a policeman like the hubby of my friend would disappear. and would live in hell forever.

2010: A DISASTROUS YEAR

I don't know if you are going to agree with me. But in my own perception and observations, 2010 has been a disatrous year not only in my life but in the lives of the peoples around the world. Haiti earthquake was one of the fatal events that brought at least 230,000 death toll, and 300,000 people injured. It was January 12th, at 04:53:10 PM when this fatal natural disaster occured. And since Philippines is 13 hours ahead of Haiti, it was already January 13th, 2010, 05: 53: 10AM that time here in my country.

Other global catastrophic events happened in Turkey (6 magnitude earthquake), and Chile (earthquake). China, and Washington DC had both snowstorms.

To think that my birthday is on January 11th, I wouldn't want to conclude that my birthday wishes were not granted by GOD. Every day and every time I celebrate my natal day, I always pray for the human race. For I know that I am not the only one who needs the guidance and assistance of the Lord ALmighty. For I know that I am not the only one who was created by GOD, and every creature needs the love and care of our Almighty Father.

Tragedy also came into my life unexpectedly when my brother, Bern, was brought to St. Luke's Medical Centre here in the Philippines by his traitor friend due to a severe stomach pain. He was brought to the hospital on the 9th of August, maybe, at 10 in the evening. I went to him the following day which was the 10th of August. Then watched over him until he was brought to the endoscopy room to insert that fatal thing inside his body. According to the doctors, endoscopy was performed to determine whether the gallbladder of my brother had stones. But when the examination was over, doctors told me that my brother needed to undergo the operation because the stones in his gallbladder were not seen during the endoscopic procedure.

I was hesitant to let the doctors do the surgery. There were arguments among the doctors, medical staff, and me. Until I gave in to what they wanted to do because of the color of my brother. He had jaundice. Thinking that he would have pains because of his liver, I thought that his liver was already affected because of the explanations of the doctors. And knowing my brother Bern's nature, he couldn't bear any pains; unlike me, I can bear any pains I have in my body due to the congenital heart disease and severe kidney failure, but my brother couldn't; so, I decided to let him undergo the operation. It was August 11th when I went back to my own training centre to hold online classes with my Chinese students for I wasn't able to inform them of what was happening into my life during that time. But I was not done yet with my online classes when doctors called me. Even my niece, Yen, talked to me over the phone telling me to go to the hospital right away because my brother, Bern, needed me. It was already August 12th, at 12 midnight when I reached the hospital by a taxi. I needed to prepare my toga first and other personal things I needed to perform that day, August 12th, Thursday, as a choir member in our church, the Church of Christ. But when I saw my brother, he was already very cold. He looked like he had been dead for long hours.

I couldn't control my emotions. I flared up. I shouted at the doctor who performed the operation, and the staff asking them to let all my family members get inside the operating room to revive my brother, Bern. I was like a mentally retarded person. Still hoping that I could revive my brother by touching his cold body and by talking to him, telling him to come back for me and for the whole family. But he was totally gone on August 12th, 2010. I couldn't believe that only 2 days ago we just talked together, joked togeter, argued together while he was waiting for the time for his endoscopy. I just went back home to change my outfit, but when I went back to the hospital, he was lifeless. The following day was August 13th, my brother's 44th birthday. And he celebrated it inside his white coffin.

This year, 2010, is the most devastating year of my life. I want this to end as soon as possible. I want this year to disappear so all my pains and heartaches will also disappear. Or shall I say, my pains and heartaches will always remain in my heart and mind for another 2010 years for I love my brother, Bern, so much. He's the only one, the only person who understood that I am A SPECIAL WOMAN, that means I was a SPECIAL CHILD.

what is your sleeping position?

Foetus
Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

Log
Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

Yearner
People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

Soldier
Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

Freefall
Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.

Starfish
Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.

AHHH...GOOD OLD DAYS

AHHH...GOOD OLD DAYS
"Memories...light the corners of my mind...Misty waters color memories...of the way my life had been..."
"Good old days...good old days"
...memories of my past...memories of my childhood...
...memories of how I was brought up by my parents...
....memories of the serenity of our home in the middle of the jungle and the greenish bush....
....memories of the golden path where my family and I trod, and walked on to move from one place to another.....for my dad was a MINISTER in the CHURCH OF CHRIST (IGLESIA NI CRISTO).... for we needed to go to the destination of my dad where we woud help him to propagate the gospel and the words of God...
...memories of sunflowers...one of the flowers available in our small garden where I had my "first singing engagements"...it was my task to water the plants before I went to school every day...so while I was watering the plants I usually sang this song....
'When I grow to be a lady...
I'll be a queen... a lovely queen...
Walking in a garden shady...in gown of green..with silver sheen..
Then my prince will come to claim his own...
and LOVE will crown me on my THRONE....
....and now that I've fully grown up...I've realized how important our memories are.
...............MEMORIES LIGHT THE CORNERS OF MY MIND.........
ONLY THESE MEMORIES MAKE ME ALIVE,
AND HAPPY ALL THE TIME!
